We measure and offset the Festival’s environmental impact

Thanks to the European YOU(th) CARE project and the collaboration with Rete Clima—a network dedicated to supporting companies and NGOs in their decarbonization efforts through carbon footprint analysis, CO₂ emission reduction, and offsetting—the Festival will be able to measure, manage, and offset the CO₂ emissions generated over the two-day event. Using a digital tool that has already enabled the simple and shared monitoring of CO₂ emissions for all events related to the project, the Festival will specifically measure the impact of transportation, waste, guest accommodations, and communications.

The offset will be achieved through a project collectively selected under YOU(th)care: the Gold Standard GS5125 – Eritrea Community Boreholes. This project is being implemented in the Zoba Debub region of Eritrea, an area highly vulnerable to climate change and characterized by limited access to safe drinking water. By providing boreholes and clean water infrastructure, the project eliminates the need to boil water using firewood, resulting in an annual reduction in emissions of approximately 37,840 tCO₂e. In addition to environmental benefits, the initiative generates significant social and economic impacts, including improved health conditions, reduced exposure to household pollution, improved living conditions, and greater community awareness regarding sustainable water use, hygiene, and environmental protection.

Emissions offsetting was explicitly designed as a measure to complement reduction efforts, in line with ICROA principles and best practices in the voluntary carbon market.
